The Quiet Bonds That Hold Us Together
September 10, 2026
In a town like Lamoni, you learn early on that community isn't something that just happens. It takes work and commitment – it is built, hour by quiet hour, by hands that ask for nothing in return.
It is always the neighbors who step into the gap. It’s the couple who walk around Lamoni and the trail picking up discarded litter. It is someone quietly watering and tending to the flower beds near Central Park. It is keeping the food pantry shelves stocked. It is lending an extra hand to ensure our local programs stay strong.
These helping hands don't do it for recognition; they do it because this is home. Every contribution counts. From weekly volunteering to helping once a season, these collective efforts keep Lamoni moving forward. Each contribution makes Lamoni better.
And every so often, Lamoni sets aside an evening to celebrate those contributions.
This year’s Volunteer Fair, held Tuesday, September 15 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Central Park garden area, offers that familiar chance to wander from table to table, to hear stories from the organizations that make a difference, and to discover where your own time or talents might fit.
If you’ve been wondering how to get involved, or if you’ve felt that tug to do something small but meaningful, the fair is a gentle invitation. No pressure, no expectations – just a chance to listen, to ask questions, and maybe to find a place where your presence matters. Lamoni is at its best when people gather to learn how they can help. Now that is … an Everyday Blessing.
